Why and How to Make Pepper Infused Vodka
I have this knack for infusing my own alcohol. The product purchased at your local market does not compare to one made within the comfort of your home. Is the process easy? Absolutely!
With a store purchased item one does not full flavor of the item, take for example, homemade Irish cream liqueur. The recipe on my website is bold, creamy, and you can taste the flavor of the Irish whiskey. The product at the market does not compare to what can be made at home.
Whether you are consuming these items yourself, gifting them, or bartering for a product or serve you are missing out if you do not try one or two of the items listed below.
Homemade infused alcohol
Here’s a list of adult beverages made here on the homestead, and mind you, they are very full in flavor.
- homemade Irish cream liqueur
- apple pie moonshine
- copycat cinnamon whiskey
- raspberry cordial
- candy cane infused vodka
- limoncello
Shrubs
In addition to the homemade beverages mentioned above, season shrubs for the perfect cocktail has been necessary as well. The nice thing about homemade shrubs, they make perfect mocktails. Mix a small amount of the fruit flavored drinking vinegar into sparkling water or ginger ale and you have a very refreshing beverage.

Homemade Pepper Vodka Recipe
Prior to beginning, here are some important tips to keep in mind –
The first thing one needs to know about infusing alcohol is this, the higher the proof the longer the items will store for you. Ideally infused alcohol requires 80 proof or higher. However, apple pie moonshine uses 180 proof grain alcohol due to the amount of sugar used in this recipe.
Secondly, a premier brand is not necessary to use. A shelf brand is just as good, but I personally prefer a smooth premier brand when creating infused items.
Finally, selecting the best pepper to create this spicy vodka concoction. The type of pepper you choose will depend on how spicy you’d like your pepper infused vodka to be. Here is a list of peppers, starting from the hottest which we’ve used to create this infused vodka –
- ghost
- habanero
- Thai chili
- jalapeno and serrano
The easiest version of this recipe would be jalapeno infused vodka as jalapenos are readily available in most markets.
Ingredient
- 1 large jalapeno peppers or pepper of your choice
- 1 1.75 liter vodka, I prefer Tito’s handmade vodka (made in Austin, TX)
Equipment
- 1 quart size mason jar
- plastic lid for quart size jar
- 1 32 ounce swing top bottle
- fine mesh sieve
- stainless steel bottle funnel

Looking for what you used for your homemade Bloody Mary mix. Interested in making the infused vodka. I have often infused tequila with peppers and love the flavor in Margaritas.
We use the left over juices for when we can up our salsa! We simply can up the fluid and use that with our pepper vodka!
Thanks, didn’t think my bloody maries could get any better but they just did.I left you the recipe for vanilla bean vodka on a reply to your canned asparagus.
