Homemade apple pie moonshine is an extremely easy recipe to make. Unlike authentic moonshine, many homemade moonshine recipes are made with an over the counter grain alcohol. This apple moonshine recipe is a delicious sipper, and one which is enjoyed throughout the year.

Homemade moonshine recipes became instantly popular around 5 years ago. What made them popular? Individuals did not need to distill their own moonshine in order to created this alcoholic beverage. Purchasing grain alcohol, one which is 190 proof, allowed for the same results as distilling your own.

Flavored homemade moonshine recipes consists of various fruits, as well as, a combination of fruit, herbs, and spices. Another amazing flavor to try is peach moonshine. This particular recipes is perfect to make during the Fall months.

Both fruit and berry flavored moonshines make for an amazing dessert sipper, though they are potent. To dilute the strength, mix any homemade moonshine with one of the following items:

  • Sparkling Water
  • Tonic Water
  • Ginger Beer
  • Apple Cider

And remember, this adult beverage makes for a great bartering tool! And by all things good and safe, make sure to drink responsibly!

Homemade Apple Pie Moonshine – Ingredients

Home canned apple juice concentrate and home pressed apple cider make excellent ingredients for this adult beverage. Also, because of the high amounts of sugars in this beverage, 190 proof grain alcohol is required. If the alcohol proof is less than 190 the apple pie moonshine must be store in the refrigerator until consumed. If not, the sugars will cause the beverage to mold.

  • Organic Apple Juice, 1 gallon
  • Apple Cider, 1 gallon
  • Dark Brown Sugar, 1 1/2 cups
  • Organic Granulated Sugar, 1 1/2 cups
  • Cinnamon sticks, 13
  • 190 Proof Everclear, or authentic moonshine, 1.75 liters

Homemade Apple Pie Moonshine – Equipment
  • Large Stockpot
  • Wooden Spoon
  • 13 quart size Mason jars with lids and rings
  • Jar Funnel
  • Ladle

Homemade Apple Pie Moonshine – Instructions
  1. In a large stockpot combine, apple juice, apple cider, cinnamon sticks, and sugars. Bring to boil making sure to stir often.
  2. Allow apple mixture to cool to room temperature. Do not add grain alcohol (Everclear) until apple mixture has completely cooled. Adding alcohol to a warm liquid will dilute the proof of the alcohol.
  3. Once the apple mixture has cooled to room temperature, add Everclear, making sure to stir well.
  4. Ladle the homemade apple pie moonshine into quart size mason jars, adding a cinnamon stick to each jar.
  5. Add lids and rings, store jars in a cool dark location.

Notes

  1. Allow the moonshine to sit for a minimum of 2 months prior to consuming. This allows for the apple mixture and grain alcohol to infuse. However, the longer the adult beverage is allowed to sit, the better it is!
  2. For small servings pint size jars can be used, or use 1/2 pint jars for gifting.

Equipment

  • Large Stockpot
  • Wooden Spoon
  • 13 quart size Mason jars with lids and rings
  • Jar Funnel
  • Ladle

Ingredients

  • 1 gallon Organic Apple Juice
  • 1 gallon Apple Cider
  • 1 1/2 cups dark Brown Sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups organic Granulated Sugar
  • 13 Cinnamon sticks
  • 1.75 liters 190 Proof Everclear or authentic moonshine

Instructions

  • In a large stockpot combine, apple juice, apple cider, cinnamon sticks, and sugars. Bring to boil making sure to stir often.
  • Allow apple mixture to cool to room temperature. Do not add grain alcohol (Evercleauntil apple mixture has completely cooled. Doing so will dilute the proof of the alcohol.
  • Once the apple mixture has cooled to room temperature, add Everclear, stir mixture well.
  • Ladle the homemade apple pie moonshine into quart size mason jars, add 1 cinnamon stick to each jar.
  • Add lids and rings, store jars in a cool dark location.
