Homemade apple pie moonshine is an extremely easy recipe to make. Unlike authentic moonshine, many homemade moonshine recipes are made with an over the counter grain alcohol. This apple moonshine recipe is a delicious sipper, and one which is enjoyed throughout the year.

Homemade moonshine recipes became instantly popular roughly 5 years ago. What made these adult beverages popular? Individuals did not need to distill their own moonshine to create this alcoholic beverage. Purchasing grain alcohol, one which is 190 proof, allowed for the same results as distilling your own.

Flavored homemade moonshine recipes consist of various fruits, as well as, a combination of fruit, herbs, and spices. Another amazing flavor to try is peach moonshine. This recipe which calls for apples is ideal to make during the fall months.

Both fruit and berry flavored moonshines make for an amazing dessert sipper. But I must warn you, these moonshine recipes are potent! To dilute the strength mix any homemade moonshine with one of the following items:

  • Sparkling Water
  • Tonic Water
  • Ginger Beer
  • Apple Cider

And remember, this adult beverage makes for a great bartering tool. Also, by all things good and safe, make sure to drink responsibly!

Homemade Apple Pie Moonshine

Home canned apple juice concentrate and home pressed apple cider are excellent options for this adult beverage. Also, because of the high amounts of sugars called for in this recipe, 190 proof grain alcohol is required. If the alcohol proof is less than 190 the apple pie moonshine must be stored in the refrigerator until consumed. If not, the sugars will cause the beverage to mold.

Ingredients

  • Organic Apple Juice, 1 gallon
  • Apple Cider, 1 gallon
  • Dark Brown Sugar, 1 1/2 cups
  • Organic Granulated Sugar, 1 1/2 cups
  • Cinnamon sticks, 13
  • 190 Proof Everclear, or authentic moonshine, 1.75 liters

Equipment

  • Large Stockpot
  • Wooden Spoon
  • 10 quart size Mason jars with lids and rings
  • Jar Funnel
  • Ladle

Instructions

  1. In a large stockpot combine, apple juice, apple cider, cinnamon sticks, and sugars. Bring to boil making sure to stir often.
  2. Allow apple mixture to completely cool to room temperature. Do not add grain alcohol (Everclear) until apple mixture has thoroughly cooled. Adding alcohol to warm liquid will dilute the proof of the alcohol.
  3. Once the apple mixture has cooled to room temperature, add Everclear, making sure to stir well.
  4. Ladle the homemade apple pie moonshine into quart size mason jars, adding a cinnamon stick to each jar.
  5. Add lids and rings, store jars in a cool dark location.

Notes

  1. Allow the moonshine to sit for a minimum of 2 months prior to consuming. This allows for the apple mixture and grain alcohol to infuse. However, the longer the adult beverage sits, the better it is!
  2. For small servings pint size jars can be used, or use 1/2 pint jars for gifting.

  • Add lids and rings, store jars in a cool dark location.

Notes
