How to Make Cinnamon Whiskey
The ingredient for infusing alcohol with candy is extremely simple. However, I prefer to use hard candies over soft. The reasoning is simple, hard candies dissolve much easier and cleaner than soft candies.
Hard or Soft Candies
Soft candies take a longer time to dissolve, and often not all of it will dissolve. Because of this it is necessary to strain the infused alcohol prior to consuming the beverage.
There are two recipes which work great in making a cinnamon whiskey. Of course, one recipe is instant whereas the other takes a few weeks to infuse properly.
Whiskey and Alcohol Proof
One last tip, to make this recipe shelf stable 80 proof alcohol or higher must be used. Anything less than 80 proof will require the cinnamon whiskey recipe to be stored in the freezer or refrigerator.
This recipe does not call for an expensive whiskey, and I would encourage you to use the type of whiskey you would normally consume. Justin prefers a smooth whiskey and for that we use Maker’s Mark or Jameson Irish whiskey.

I made mine with the chills and cinnamon sticks. Fantastic, though much stronger than the stuff off the shelf. How long is it good for after adding the simple syrup? I made it about 4 weeks ago and its been in the fridge the whole time (other than the original infusion).
If your proof is high and your sugar content is right it will last indefinitely.
