DIY Patriotic Vintage Flag Wreath
We love decorating our home for the appropriate holiday celebration, but there is always that one decoration that you may not want to put away when the holiday is over. I am excited to say that this patriotic vintage flag wreath is truly basic enough to keep out year round if you wish to embrace your patriotic side!
The Material Needed
We picked up all of the material needed for this project at Michael’s Arts & Craft and made sure to bring the appropriate coupons; just a note, there is always a coupon available online. If you missed the opportunity to purchase seasonal ribbon at your local store I found some amazing ribbon on Amazon.
I love using grapevine wreaths as a base for our wreath making projects, simply because it’s extremely easy to work with and very inexpensive. The cost of a wreath breaks down to $3 with a 40% coupon! This year we made a few wreaths from the grapevine trimmings from my mother-in-laws vineyard, they are currently drying and we will be using them for projects later in the year. Twine is something we always have on hand for crafting, the garden or various projects around our homestead.
This particular project is made of bows which are tied to the grapevine wreath, and the method in which we make bows is extremely easy. I find working with wire ribbon to be the easiest, but that is not always necessary. Once you get the hang of making bows you will begin using them in just about every project you make! For example, our Christmas tree has bows on its branches giving it a country festive theme.
Assemble The Wreath
The main reason we love working with a grapevine wreath is the option of being able to tie the bows as close or as far apart as we wish. If you want a wreath with more bows you can tie them to various branches, but for this project we tied the bow around the entire wreath.
It’s as simple as that, and it took only 30 minutes to make. Since I had some extra ribbon, we also put together is version of patriotic vintage flag wreath as well.
Love how this wreath turned out. The muted patriotic theme is perfect! Thanks for sharing
